Mass at Newman College

During the year, Newman College welcomes all to attend Mass at 11.00am on Sundays in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit and at 5.30pm in the St Mary's College Chapel.

Mass is also held in the Lady Chapel at 12.00 noon Monday - Friday. During the Academic Semester.

Mass Times

Mass is held in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit on Sundays, at 11.00am, with the Newman College choir during the term. Mass is celebrated at 5.30pm in the chapel at St Mary College ( next door to Newman College) during the University of Melbourne's academic semester. The 11.00am Mass continues during the break between semesters in June and July, and after the exam period until the Sunday before Christmas Day, resuming in mid-January. Please click here to visit the University of Melbourne's website to view the academic calendar for the year.

Sunday Masses at 11am and 5:30pm will continue throughout December until Christmas Day.

All are most welcome to attend Mass at Newman College.

Christmas Day Mass

Christmas Day Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday 25th December by Fr. Dan Madigan SJ in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Newman College.

Please note: There will be no 5:30pm Mass on Christmas Day at St. Mary's Chapel.

Mass dates for 2026

The 11am Sunday Mass will recommence at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Newman College on 1st February.

The 5:30pm Sunday Mass at St. Mary's College will resume at the start of the University Semester.

Midday Mass at Our Lady Chapel will recommence at the start of the University Semester.
