The Emory Global Health Case Competition
Newman alumnus Stephanie Li was a member of the University of Melbourne team that competed and won first place in the Emory Global Health Case Competition 2019.
The competition is a prestigious and intense contest held at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and takes months to prepare. Stephanie's team was made up of six University of Melbourne graduate students and they faced tough competition from US Universities such as Cornell, Yale and Brown. Most significantly, her team was the first winning team from the University of Melbourne since the University started participating in the contest in 2014.
Her team was tasked with addressing vulnerabilities in the Dominican Republic's hurricane preparedness plan, taking into consideration the impact of climate change. They were awarded $6000 for their solution to the global health case.
A big congratulations to Stephanie and her team on their acheivement!
