As a Catholic College in the Jesuit tradition, Newman is particularly concerned with 'a faith that seeks justice'. As a result, Newman maintains a very active programme of community service.
Community service is an area of great importance in College life and applies to service inside the College and to the wider community. Service is a central part of student life at Newman, and an important dimension of the College's Catholic identity. Through service to the community, individuals develop a mature self-understanding, an appreciation of the world around them through engagement with people from other communities and become agents of positive change both now and in their sphere of influence later in life.
Students from the College are involved in a variety of community service activities in the local area. There are also single events, such as fundraising dinners and projects. We have also been involved in outreach programmes in the Philippines and Africa.
